Cycling life in Stockholm
by bernt & torsten
I recently visited my father in Stockholm, it been a while since I have lived in Stockholm – I moved from Stockholm and Sweden in 1987 on recommendation from my doctor as I was suffering from severe allergies and my doctor recommended a warm place with a desert climate.
I was an active commuter cyclist while growing up in Sweden, biking to school and later biking to work, in the 1980s there were not that many people that commuted by bike, there were some bike lanes mostly in the suburbs of Stockholm.
In recent years I have lived in Amsterdam which has a vibrant cycle commuter community, I was very surprised by how vibrant the cycle commuter community has become in Stockholm. There are many more bike lanes, covering all parts of the city, lots of people commute by bike.
I took some pictures that I like to share with you.
