A Poem: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door – The Struggle to Overcome Our Differences

Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door It’s a tale as old as time, but we still ignore We’re born into this world, all the same But soon our paths diverge, we play a different game

Family, social status, shapes our minds We learn to see the world through their eyes We take on their views, their values, their strife And soon we’re lost in the maze of life

But it’s not just them, we’re our own worst foes, We plant the seeds of discord and watch them grow, We argue, we fight, we hate, and we divide, And we forget the common bond that we share inside

We let culture, religion, drive us apart, And we forget the love that should be in our hearts We cling to the past, the traditions that we know, And we ignore the winds of change that constantly blow

But it’s not too late, we can still make a change, We can break free from the chains that restrain We can see the world through different eyes And realize that we’re all cut from the same cloth and ties

We can embrace diversity and learn to understand And reach out to our brothers and sisters across the land, We can find common ground and work together And make this world a better place forever

So knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door Let’s leave behind the hatred and the war Let’s embrace our differences and celebrate And build a world that’s free from hate

It’s time to shed the baggage that we’ve carried for so long And learn to dance to a different song Let’s open up our minds and let love lead the way And knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door we’ll stay.
